So we were off for a week balancing travel plans but we came back guns blazing for our 30th show in the books.  Race Director Mike Morris joined us to talk about the ULTRA Beast that was announced as the world’s first EVER Marathon(ish) distance obstacle race to be held November 22nd at the Vermont race.  Featuring two loops of the course, it will be a tough challenge for anyone accepted…. speaking of acceptance, 100 lucky folks will be given their golden tickets this week for their shot at Spartan Ultra glory.  Want to know more?  Check out this page for official details and how YOU can get your name in the hat for a spot in this once in a lifetime challenge.

This week we went LIVE from across the country and our good friend Sergeant Sedlak was in a hot tub!  We had two amazing guests on with us – Alec Blenis, a several times over Spartan runner who hasn’t finished outside of the top ten (usually in the top three) for every event he’s participated in.  He’s also just 17 years old!  Amazing!

Tommy Mac from HQ joined us to talk about the Hurricane Heat and some amazing stories of the races so far this year.  He’s been a part of every Hurricane Heat since Amesbury and it just keeps getting better!  Check out the video!

Spartan Radio made a triumphant return on Tuesday night with two VERY special guests and one very hot, well, COLD, topic: The Winter Death Race!

Amelia Boone and, well, Todd’s not really a guest, but as a Death Race finisher he was our second guest!   One might think such a topic would make for a morose hour of Spartan Radio, but it was anything but!  Amelia and Todd’s recounting of their harrowing experience was filled with laughter and maybe even a little Burpee PTSD served up one memory at a time.

Spartan Radio picked up an extra co-host this week when Margo the Great joined the gang!  We had two rad guests and we talked all about the upcoming SoCal race in Temecula, CA.  First race of the season and boy do we have some rad stuff planned.

We talked to two racers, Derek Suter and Todd Calkins.  Todd and 11 of his fellow Marines will be running on Saturday, the last thing they’ll be doing actually before they take off for a year deployment in Afghanistan!  We are honored to have them joining us for such a momentous occasion and we wish them well and will stay in touch over the next year.

hostsSpartan Radio was BACK in action after a two week break.  As usual it was a fun one!  Carrie talked about relevant topics, like her love of bacon and Todd did about 75 burpees in full firefighters garb and a gas mask during the show.  Talk about a great way to break the hiatus!  We hit the ground running with our first guest Semi Aboud from Pilgrim Studios on to talk about the upcoming reality TV show based on the infamous Spartan Death Race.  Applications are due by the 27th of January but get your name in early for the best consideration.

Happy Holidays Sparta!  This week, Spartan Radio was back in action after a week hiatus.  Well, this show had it all, drama, humor, DEATH (well, not real death, but Death Race talk)  I’m sure you’ve heard the news by now, but Spartan Race was voted Outside Online’s BEST Obstacle Race in 2011 by fan vote!  Not too shabby!  We also mentioned that Spartan’s own Jason Jaksetic will STREET_TEAM_Banner_880x200be doing Epicman in Hawaii – Triple Iron with eight in the field, we wish him luck! 
Spartan’s amazing Street Team got a loving shout out for all their hard work and we love everything they are doing.  Aroo!

Spartans! Since the beginning of this holiday season, so many wonderful gifts have been thrown our way! Gaspari Nutrition is now a sponsor of the 2012 series.  They will be sponsoring the MMA awards on Fox Dec. 11th, so make sure to tune in!  Also, SPARTAN RACE HITS PRIMETIME! Biggest Loser featured three glorious Spartan minutes on their Thanksgiving Special.

SoCal Spartans have caught the fever.  We had to add another day to the Temecula Super because of such high demand.  Also, the second day of racing on Sunday the 29th of January will include a relay option.

Happy Thanksgiving Sparta!  We had a casual show with some new friends and Todd’s challenge was food based… but more about that later. We have some big announcements!

Spartan Race, the world leader in obstacle racing events, will be featured in NBC’S “The Biggest Loser: Where Are They Now?” Thanksgiving special airing Wed., Nov. 23, 2011, 9-11 p.m. (EST). The program will follow former Biggest Loser contestants Alfredo ‘Frado’ Dinten, Hannah Curlee, Brendan Donovan, Patrick House, Danny Cahill, Mark Pinhasovich, Jen Jacobs, Jay Jacobs and Olivia Ward as they take on the Staten Island, N.Y. Super Spartan, an eight-mile obstacle course race with 15 obstacles, including Fire Jump, Slip Wall, Hercules Hoist and Barbed Wire pit.

Spartan Radio was goin’ all out tonight!  With a house full of guests and Todd finding a forklift to exercise with/on, it was a pretty rad show.  Did we mention that “BACON” was the drinking word of the night?  Shawty regaled the group with her love affair with bacon and her English accent.  First things first, Malibu is THIS WEEKEND!  We still have 100 or so slots left so signup before midnight today, Wednesday 16th to make sure you get in on the action.  Register HERE.
